AutoFormat May Not Replace All Extra Paragraph Marks

SYMPTOMS

When you run the AutoFormat command on the Format menu, Word for Windows may not remove all the extra paragraph marks from your document. This behavior sometimes contradicts the tip on page 175 of the "Microsoft Word User's Guide."

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

When you run the AutoFormat command, Word removes extra paragraph marks if you select the Paragraph Marks option in the AutoFormat Options dialog box. (To open the AutoFormat Options dialog box, choose AutoFormat from the Format menu, and then choose the Options button.)
