 SYMPTOMS
The Newsletter Wizard supplied with Word for Windows does not provide
character formatting options (for example, you cannot change the font or
point size of characters).
 
 WORKAROUND
To modify the character formatting in the Newsletter Wizard, use the
following method to modify the styles in the Newsletter Style templates
(Classic1.dot, Classic2.dot, Classic3.dot, Classic4.dot, Modern1.dot,
Modern2.dot, Modern3.dot, and Modern4.dot if you are using Word for
Windows; Classic1 News Format, Classic2 News Format, Classic3 News Format,
Classic4 News Format, Modern1 News Format, Modern2 News Format, Modern3
News Format, and Modern4 News Format if you are using Word for the
Macintosh).
 
NOTE: Microsoft does not support the modification of its wizards or
templates. Modifications done by the user are at the user's risk and
constitute no obligations or warranties, either written or expressed, by
Microsoft.
 Next time you use the Newsletter Wizard to create a newsletter, the wizard
will use the modified styles.Before you modify your Newsletter Wizard or any of its style templates,
   make backup copies of the following files (depending on which version of
   Word you are using):
   Word for Windows (files
   are located in the Template folder)

   If something goes wrong while you modify your Newsletter Wizard or one
   of its templates, you can restore the backup copies.
Run the Newsletter Wizard and select the settings you want to use. After
   the wizard is finished, note the style name of the text you want to
   reformat. For example, if you want to change the font for the
   headlines, note the Headline1 or Headline2 style. Once you have noted
   the names of all the styles you want to change, continue with step 3.
Open the template that corresponds to the style of newsletter you
   created in step 2 above:

To modify text formatted with the Normal style, use the procedure in
   step 6. To modify text formatted with any other style, do the
   following:
   a. On the Format menu, click Style.
 
   b. In the List box, select All Styles.
 
   c. From the Styles list, select the first style you want to change and
       choose the Modify button.
 
   d. In the Modify Style dialog box, select the Add To Template check box
       (so that an X appears in the check box).
 
   e. Click the Format button. From the menu that appears, choose the
       characteristic you want to modify. For example, to change the font
      size, choose Font; or, to change the indents, choose Paragraph. After
      you make all the changes, click OK in the Modify Style dialog box.
   f. In the Format Style dialog box, choose the Close button.
 
   g. Repeat steps 5c through 5f until you have modified the formatting in
       all the styles you want to change.
To modify text formatted with the Normal style, do the following (to
   modify text formatted with any other style, use step 5):
   a. Select the text you want to modify. Include the paragraph mark or
       end-of-cell marker in your selection.
 
   b. Manually reformat the text. For example, to change the font size,
       choose Font on the Format menu.
 
   c. Repeat steps 6a through 6b until you have modified the formatting of
       all the Normal style text you want to change.
On the File menu, click Close. Choose Yes when Word prompts you to
   save the changes to your template and to the Newsletter Wizard.
