Hidden Outlining Toolbar Appears Even After You Turn It Off

SYMPTOMS

If you turn off the Outlining toolbar, Word automatically turns it back on under the following conditions:

  • You are in outline view, and you turn off the Outlining toolbar, switch to print preview, and then click Close.

    -or-

  • You turn off the Outlining toolbar in one window, switch to another document window, and then switch back to the first document window.

(To hide the Outlining toolbar when you are in outline view, click Toolbars on the View menu and click to clear the Outlining check box in the Toolbars list.)
