The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSYour system may hang (stop responding) when you try to print a document if you are very low on disk space and Background Printing is turned on. (To locate this option, choose Options from the Tools menu, and select the Print tab.)
CAUSEThe system does not have enough free space to generate the necessary temp files to finish the print job.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word versions 6.0, 6.0a, and 6.0c for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
RESOLUTIONRestart (reboot) your machine, free up disk space, and then try to print the document again.
