WD6X: Grammar Checker Causes System to Stop Responding

SYMPTOMS

Your system stops responding if you perform a grammar check of the following sentence:

   I, John Doe, being first duly sworn, depose and say under oath as
   follows:

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft Word.

To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:

Method 1: Do not run the grammar checker on this sentence.

   -or-

Method 2: Reword the sentence before running the grammar checker.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Word 95 for Windows and Word 98 Macintosh Edition.
