Can't Run InternetWorks After Removing Internet Asst

Last reviewed: February 6, 1998
Article ID: Q126170
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Internet Assistant for Word, version 1.0
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0a, 6.0c

SYMPTOMS

After running the Maintenance Mode setup for Internet Assistant to remove all files, you may not be able to run InternetWorks.

CAUSE

When Setup removes all components, it modifies the registration database and removes the following two files:

   MFCOLEUI.DLL
   IWPS.DLL

Both of these files are also used by InternetWorks from Booklink Technologies.

RESOLUTION

After removing Internet Assistant, reinstall InternetWorks.

If you are still unable to run InternetWorks, you may need to manually re- register InternetWorks. To do this, from the Windows File Manager, locate the InternetWorks registration file and double-click it to register it. If InternetWorks is still unable to load, you may need to rebuild your registration database.

For additional information on rebuilding your registration database, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
