WD: Unexpected Results Using Templates with Custom Menu NamesLast reviewed: February 24, 1998Article ID: Q127059 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen several templates are attached as global templates or are placed in the Word Startup folder and those templates contain custom menus of the same name, the resulting menu bar in Word will reflect each instance of the custom menu name. However, the right-most custom menu will contain all the submenu entries from each of the custom menus.
CAUSEWord allows you to add custom menus to the menu bar. You can add submenu items within the menu selection. By default, Word prevents you from adding a custom menu with the same name as another menu within the same template. However, Word does not cross-check between templates to prevent you from adding the same custom menu name in multiple templates.
WORKAROUNDUse different custom menu names when the templates are to be used in conjunction with each other.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Word 97 for Windows and Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition.
