Word Hangs When You Perform a Mail Merge to Electronic Mail

SYMPTOMS

When you open or create a main document for a mail merge, click Send on the File menu, and then attempt to perform a mail merge to electronic mail, Word hangs (stops responding).

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, close the window that appears when you click Send on the File menu, and then perform the mail merge.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word 7.0 and 7.0a for Windows 95. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
