WordBasic: SetDocumentProperty Causes Illegal Instr. Error

SYMPTOMS

When you use the SetDocumentProperty command in a Word for Windows 95 macro, Word generates an Illegal Instruction error, and Word is shut down automatically. All unsaved work in Word is lost.

CAUSE

This error occurs when there are no documents currently open. The SetDocumentProperty command was not designed to be used when there are no documents open.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for Windows 95, version 7.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

Make sure a document is open before using the SetDocumentProperty command.
