The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIn Word 7.x, the FileFind WordBasic command opens the Open dialog box, but it does not display the Advanced Find dialog box.
CAUSEThe FileFind command has limited functionality in Word versions 7.x and later. The Find File dialog box used in earlier versions of Word has been replaced by the Advanced Find feature in Word versions 7.x and later.
RESOLUTIONTo use the Advanced Find feature of Word 7.x, click Open on the File menu and then click the Advanced button. For more information on the FileFind command, click Microsoft Word Help Topics on the Help menu, click the Index tab, type "FileFind" (without the quotation marks), select the "FileFind Statement" topic, and then click the Display button.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for Windows 95, version 7.x. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATIONIn Word 7.x, you cannot use a Dialog or Dialog() argument on the FileFind command to display the Word version 6.x Find File dialog box. In addition, Word 7.x does not support the following FileFind arguments:
