The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to open a Word 2.0 or a Works word-processing file, the file appears as gibberish on the screen. Or, if you have Confirm Conversions At Open selected, when you try to open a Word 2.0 or Works file, no suitable choice appears on the Convert File From list.
CAUSEWhen you installed Word, you chose to perform a Typical, Custom, or Compact installation. If you chose Custom, you may have cleared the Converters And Filters option. Some text converters are not installed with a Typical or Compact installation.
