Equation Field Results Print Wrong with Word for Windows NT

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows NT, version 6.0

SYMPTOMS

The vertical alignment of equations created with the Equation field is incorrect when you print your document. This problem occurs when you are using the Windows NT version 3.51 or Windows 95 operating system and you print to one of the following printers:

  • Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet 4 series printers
  • HP LaserJet 3si printer
  • IBM LaserPrinter 4019

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word version 6.0 for Windows NT. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

Use the Equation Editor instead of the Equation field.
