Truncated Titles in Table of Contents Using \B Switch

SYMPTOMS

The titles in your table of contents are truncated.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you create a table of contents and add the \b switch.

RESOLUTION

Update the table of contents by selecting the Update Entire Table option. To do so, position the insertion point in the table of contents and press the F9 key. In the Update Table Of Contents dialog box, click to select Update Entire Table.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for Windows versions 6.0, 6.0a, and 6.0c. This problem was corrected in Word for Windows NT version 6.0, Word for the Macintosh versions 6.0 and 6.0.1 and Word for Windows 95.
