SUMMARY

Word 6.0 for Windows uses the Fileman.ini file, located in the Windows folder, to store information associated with the Find File command.

MORE INFORMATION

In addition to the Fileman.ini file, Word caches file list information in .idx files in the Word folder. When you initiate the Find File command, the information in these .idx files is displayed immediately in the Search Results window, and a search update is started in the background.

The Find File command that is part of the Microsoft Office Manager (MOM) uses an .ini file called Msffile.ini for its search information.

The Windows File Manager uses a file called Winfile.ini.
