French Grammar Checker Doesn't Recognize Accented Uppercase

SYMPTOMS

Accented uppercase letters are not recognized by the French grammar checker. If you run the grammar checker at the same time you run the spelling checker, the grammar checker does not recognize the accented uppercase characters.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word version 6.0, 6.0a, and 6.0c for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

Use the spell checker without running the grammar checker to check the spelling of accented uppercase characters.
