Last reviewed: July 31, 1997

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows 95, version 7.0

SYMPTOMS

When you save a Word document to a drive that has limited disk space, your document may not be saved, even though the progress meter in the status bar reaches 100 percent. When you close and then reopen the file, your changes are not retained.

This behavior occurs when Allow Fast Saves is selected. (To locate this option, click Options on the Tools menu, and then select the Save tab.)

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word for Windows version 7.0. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Word for Windows version 7.0a.

WORKAROUND

Turn off Allow Fast Saves. Make sure the drive you are saving files to has enough disk space.
