WD:Numbered List Incorrect Using "Page Break Before" Within ListLast reviewed: February 5, 1998Article ID: Q142780 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you apply Page Break Before formatting within a numbered list, Microsoft Word may number the items incorrectly. For example, when you type the list, format it as a numbered list, and then apply Page Break Before formatting to the third item in the list, Word renumbers the list as follows:
1. Collie 2. Labrador <page break inserted here> 3. Spaniel 3. Beagle 5. TerrierThe results are the same if you apply the Page Break Before formatting before you number the list. To locate the Page Break Before options, click Paragraph on the Format menu, and then click the Text Flow tab.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, insert a Next Page section break in place of the Page Break Before formatting. To do this, click Break on the Insert menu, click Page Break, and then click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem has been corrected in Microsoft Word 97 for Windows and Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition.
