STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Word listed at the beginning of this article. This problem no longer occurs in Word for Windows 95, version 7.0 and Word 98 Macintosh Edition
MORE INFORMATIONThe internal default formatting of Times New Roman 10 pt or Times 10 pt is applied directly to the table cells. This formatting is applied no matter what style is being used. NOTE: You can use Reveal Formatting to view this format. Press SHIFT+F1 or click the Help button once, then click on one of the table cells. The font formatting next to Direct is what is directly applied to the table.
