The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Word 6.x for Windows, if you open the Invoice template to edit it, the WordArt object in the upper-right corner is displayed as a placeholder and is lost.

If you double-click the object, you receive the error:

Word cannot edit the Microsoft Word 6.0 picture.

If you select the placeholder and click Copy on the Edit menu, you receive the error message:

There are too many edits in the document. This operation will be
   incomplete. Save your work.

WORKAROUND

Open the Invoice template as a document rather than as a template. Do the necessary editing, and then save the document as a template.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word version 6.x for Windows. This problem has been corrected in Word version 7.0 for Windows 95.
