The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows 95, version 7.0
  • Microsoft Office for Windows 95, version 7.0

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Binder and Word may take a long time (for example, 10 minutes) to open a read-only document. In this case Binder and Word may appear to stop responding (hang). However, Binder eventually opens the document. This problem does not occur when the Word document is not set to read-only status.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, open the document in Word, clear the Read-Only Recommended option, save and close the document, and then open it in Office Binder.

STATUS

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information here as it becomes available.
