SYMPTOMSWhen you open multiple documents in Word, and then attempt to print them from the Open dialog box, Word stops responding (hangs). NOTE: Word may print one of the documents, however, Word then stops responding and prints no other documents.
WORKAROUNDFirst, use the following steps to close Word:
Method 1: Do not open the documents in Word before you print them.
a. On the File menu, click Open, and then select the documents you want to print. b. Right-click the selection (or click Commands and Settings) and click Print.Method 2: Open and print each document individually.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the beginning of this article. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATIONIn Microsoft Word 97 for Windows, you can select multiple documents in the Open dialog box. You can print the selected documents without opening the documents by clicking Commands and Settings, and clicking Print. If the selected documents are already open in Word, and you try to print the open documents from the Open dialog, Word stops responding. Word prepares to background print the documents, but then stops responding.
