WD: Save As Rich Text Format (RTF) Marks Picture As Revised

SYMPTOMS

Documents containing pictures that are saved as RTF while the "Track Changes While Editing" option is selected cause the pictures to be marked as changed when the RTF document is reopened.

WORKAROUND

Turn the "Track Changes While Editing" ("Mark Revisions While Editing" in Word 7.0) off before saving the document in Rich Text Format (RTF).

To Disable "Track Changes While Editing" in Word 97

  1. On the Tools menu, click Track Changes, then click Highlight Changes.

  2. From the Highlight Changes dialog, clear the "Track changes while editing" check box, then click OK.

To Disable "Mark Revisions While Editing" in Word 7.0

  1. On the Tools menu, click Revisions.

  2. On the Revisions dialog, clear the "Mark Revisions While Editing" check box, then click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
