WD97: Envelopes Printed Upside Down on Hewlett-Packard 5si/5si

SYMPTOMS

When you print an envelope to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet 5si/5si MX PS printer, the delivery and return addresses are printed upside down.

This problem occurs regardless of whether the Clockwise Rotation check box is selected on the Printing Options tab. (To locate this option, click Envelopes And Labels on the Tools menu. On the Envelopes tab, click Options, and then click Printing Options.)

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, feed the envelope as shown on the printer. Do not feed the envelope based on what you see in the preset.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word 97 for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
