WD: Some Custom Style Formatting Retained after Style Replaced

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Replace command (on the Edit menu) to replace a custom style with another style, the text reformatted first may retain some of the formatting from the original style.

WORKAROUND

When the replace procedure is finished, select the text that retained the old formatting and reapply the style.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word 7.0 and Word 97 for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
