WD97: Reveal Formatting Help Tool Not Installed

SYMPTOMS

The reveal formatting Help button is not on the Standard toolbar.

NOTE: This button is on the Standard toolbar in Microsoft Word 6.0 and 7.0.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use any of the following methods.

Method 1: Use the Help Menu

On the Help menu, click What's This?

Method 2: Use the Shortcut Keys

Press SHIFT+F1 on the keyboard.

Method 3: Add the Reveal Formatting Help Button to a Toolbar

  1. On the Tools menu, click Customize.

  2. Click the Commands tab. Under Categories, click All Commands.

  3. Under Commands, drag HelpTool to the desired toolbar.

    For example, drag HelpTool to the Standard toolbar.

  4. Click Close to close the Customize dialog box.

NOTE: To turn off the reveal formatting feature, press ESC.

MORE INFORMATION

The reveal formatting Help button (which resembles an arrow and question mark) brings up a dialog that reveals the character and paragraph formatting of a portion of text.

For more information about reveal formatting, click the Office Assistant, type "What is Reveal Formatting," click Search, and then click to view "About viewing format settings."
