WD97: Alignment of Bulleted or Numbered List Lost in HTML

SYMPTOMS

If your document contains text or objects with bullets or numbering, and if the text or object is formatted for center or right alignment, the alignment will not be retained if you saved the file in HTML format.

When the HTML source is read, the text or object will be aligned to the left rather than to the center or to the right.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do either of the following:

  • Format the text or object without using bullets or numbering.

    -or-

  • Align the text or object using indents rather than paragraph alignment.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word version 97. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
