SYMPTOMS

In some cases, when you check spelling of words in a table, Word will neither check spelling in the background (check spelling as you type) nor will it mark misspelled words.

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:

  • A slash mark (/) immediately follows the text being spell checked (that is, the slash mark in not separated from the text by a space).

    -and-

  • You right-click the misspelling and click Ignore All.

    -and-

  • You use the Undo command after clicking Ignore All.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do one of the following:

  • Type a space between the misspelled text and the slash mark.

    -or-

  • Use a different character in place of the slash mark.

    -or-

  • Type a space before the slash mark.

STATUS
