The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you save a file, you may receive the following message,
Do you want to replace the existing <file name>?This message may occur even though the file "<file name>" has been previously renamed. Clicking Yes to replace the file will overwrite the file you renamed with the new file that you are attempting to save.
CAUSEThis problem occurs in Windows 95, when you do the following:
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, click No, and save your file with a different name.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
