WD: AutoRecover Not Available Using Word as Your E-mail Editor

Last reviewed: September 23, 1997
Article ID: Q173576
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows 95, versions 7.0, 7.0a
  • Microsoft Word 97 for Windows

SYMPTOMS

When you use Word as your e-mail editor, Word does not create an AutoRecover (AutoSave) file of your e-mail message.

MORE INFORMATION

This behavior is by design. If you create a new e-mail message, most e-mail programs save the new message automatically to your Inbox if you do not send it, or if the e-mail program quits unexpectedly.

The AutoRecover feature is available in Word; however, Word turns this feature off automatically when you use Word as your e-mail editor. To see the AutoRecover option, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Save tab.
