SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Word 97, if you select a hyperlink and then paste or insert any of the following items over the selection, Word preserves the hyperlink although it does not preserve the hyperlink's blue underline:
CAUSEThis functionality is by design of Word 97. When you insert, paste, or type over a selected hyperlink, Word preserves the hyperlink.
WORKAROUND
Removing the HyperlinkTo manually remove the hyperlink, follow these steps:
Showing the Hyperlink UnderlineTo retain the hyperlink and show it as a hyperlink:
