SYMPTOMSWhen you attempt to check for an AutoUpdate from Word, you may receive the following error message:
AutoUpdate could not download a newer version. Word could not connect to the Internet, or the Internet connection returned an error. To retry the update, click AutoUpdate on the Tools menu.NOTE: To check for an AutoUpdate from Word, you must have an HTML document open so the AutoUpdate command is available on the Tools menu.
WORKAROUNDTo check for and install the Word 97 Web Authoring Tools Update, connect to the following Internet location:
http://www.microsoft.com/officefreestuff/word/dlpages/wd97au.htmNOTE: Because the Microsoft Web site is constantly updated, the site address may change without notice. If this occurs, link to the Microsoft home page at the following address:
