The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you insert an "a" (without the quotation marks) with an acute accent (') above it (ASCII 0225 symbol) in a Word document, the area where the "a" should be is blank or is formatted as a gray dotted box.
CAUSEThis problem occurs if the text is formatted with the MS LineDraw font.
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, use either of the following methods.
Method 1: Use the Keyboard to Insert the SymbolTo do this, press ALT+0225. NOTE: You must use the numeric keypad to type the numbers.

MORE INFORMATIONThe MS LineDraw font is used solely for displaying line draw characters in documents converted to Word for Windows from Microsoft Word for MS-DOS or from WordPerfect versions 5.x.
