WD98: Font Scale Property Not Available on Macintosh

SYMPTOMS

You may not be able to use the scale property for fonts in Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition.

Case 1

When you go to the Character Spacing tab (on the Format menu, click Font, and click the Character Spacing tab), the Scale box is missing.

NOTE: To see the Character Spacing tab, click Font on the Format menu.

Case 2

When you run a macro that contains the Scale property nothing happens. For example, the following macro will not produce any results when you run it in Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition: 

   Sub Scale()
   ' Scale the contents of the active document to 110%
      ActiveDocument.Content.Font.Scaling = 110
   End Sub

CAUSE

This functionality is by design. The Scaling property has been disabled in Word 98 Macintosh Edition.

MORE INFORMATION

The Scaling property returns or sets the scaling percentage applied to the font. This property stretches or compresses text horizontally as a percentage of the current size (the scaling range is from 1 through 600).

NOTE: The Scaling property is available and works correctly in Microsoft Word 97 for Windows.
