The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSWhen you open or save a document or when you save a new template, the selected folder may not be the default folder specified for the file type on the File Locations tab in the Preferences dialog box (Click Preferences on the Tools menu).
CAUSEThis behavior occurs because Word selects the folder based on settings found in the Documents section of the General Controls control panel. This control panel allows you to set one of the following options:
