WD97: "Not Enough Memory" Error When Printing from Photo Editor

SYMPTOMS

When you print from Microsoft Photo Editor, you may receive one of the following errors:

   Not enough memory.

   -or-

   Insufficient memory to complete operation.

CAUSE

Microsoft Photo Editor options within the Windows 95 Registry may need to be regenerated.

WORKAROUND

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.

To regenerate the Photo Editor Registry Option settings, follow these steps:

1. Quit all programs.

2. Click the Windows Start button, and then click Run.

3. In the Open box, type "regedit" (without the quotation marks), and then click OK.

4. Go to the following registry subkey:

         H_Key_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Photo Editor\3.0\File Options
   

5. Click the registry subkey to select it, on the Registry menu, click Export Registry File, type a file name, and then click Save.

6. On the Edit menu, click Delete.

7. Go the following registry subkey:

         H_Key_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\Photo Editor\3.0
            \Microsoft Photo Editor
   
   

8. Click the Registry subkey to select it, on the Registry menu, click Export Registry File, type a file name, and then click Save.

9. On the Edit menu, click Delete and then close the Registry.
