WD: Print Preview Zoom Reverts to First Percentage SelectedLast reviewed: February 3, 1998Article ID: Q180267 |
The information in this article applies to:
SYMPTOMSIf you select a zoom percentage while in print preview for viewing purposes, the zoom is locked to that percentage when you close print preview. When you select a different percentage the next time you go into print preview, Word will revert to the first zoom set and will not permanently change the new view. That is, you will always have the first percentage by default.
CAUSEThe reason the default cannot be changed from a low zoom setting is because the print preview needs to start in a low zoom setting in order for the magnifying glass to zoom up. The magnifying glass is set on by default going into print preview, and it is set to zoom up by default.
WORKAROUNDThe Word Settings (5) or Word Settings (6) file, depending on version, must be deleted from the System:Preferences folder to reset the zoom from print preview. To work around this problem, follow these steps:
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
MORE INFORMATIONYou can change the default setting to either 10%, 25%, Whole Page, Or Two Pages because all of these settings are low enough (less than and not equal to 40%, the limit) and then you can always zoom up by clicking the mouse button.
