SUMMARYMicrosoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition provides a new document viewing option called online layout view. This view is designed primarily to view HTML or Web style documents. Background colors and textures in such documents are visible only in online layout view.
MORE INFORMATIONYou can specify backgrounds for any Word 98 document but these are only displayed in online layout view. You cannot print these backgrounds. To specify a background color or texture, click Background on the Format menu. Then, select a color or fill effect for the document. NOTE: Selecting a color or fill effect changes the view to online layout view, and in some cases turns on the document map. If you click the Fill Effects button in the Background dialog box, the Fill Effects dialog box opens. In this dialog box, you can use a color in conjunction with any of the options on the Pattern or Gradient tabs. NOTE: Select the color before selecting the pattern or gradient options. Along with predefined textures, the Texture and Picture tabs in the Fill Effects dialog box allow you to select files that contain textures or pictures to display as backgrounds. Selecting a color has no effect on what options are available on these tabs.
