SUMMARYThe Apple LaserWriter does not support the use of the Font Substitution option if Fractional Widths is selected in the Page Setup dialog box. The Font Substitution option in the Microsoft Word versions 3.x Print dialog box is dimmed if the Fractional Widths option is selected. To select the Font Substitution option, first turn off the Fractional Widths option. In Word version 4.0 and later, these options appear in the Page Setup dialog box and are independent of each other. However, if Fractional Widths is selected, Font Substitution does not work, even though it can be selected.
MORE INFORMATIONFont Substitution is an Apple System option that allows a printer font to be printed in place of a selected font if it is not already a printer font. Fractional Widths is an option that takes advantage of the higher print resolution for the printer by allowing fractional point spacing for characters when they are printed to the printer.
