WD: Print Preview Puts Odd Numbered Pages on Right

Last reviewed: November 17, 1997
Article ID: Q26451
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for the Macintosh versions 3.x, 4.0, 5.0, 5.1, 5.1a

SYMPTOMS

When displaying a document formatted with Mirror Margins (Mirror Even/Odd in Word 4.0 and 5.x, Facing Pages in Word 3.x) in Print Preview (Page View in Word 3.x), the first page of the document appears on the right when facing pages are displayed.

CAUSE

Word is following standard publishing guidelines, in which the first page of a bound manuscript always starts on the right. The page on the left does not cause the printer to eject a blank page at printing.

MORE INFORMATION

In order to set Mirror Margins, on the File menu click Document Layout (Format/Document in Word 4.0 and 5.x, File/Page Setup in Word 3.x).
