SYMPTOMSIn Word for the Macintosh, the Font box and Font Size boxes may appear blank, and no font is selected in the drop-down font list.
CAUSEThis can occur for one of two reasons:
Word also does not display a check mark next to the font on the Font menu if the font of the selected text is not installed on the System. In this case, the font size as well as other character formats do have the correct check marks next to them.
STATUSThis behavior is by design. In case number one listed above, the restriction of 500 characters improves the speed of the program.
