Including Excel Charts in WinWord Documents

• Microsoft Word for Windows versions 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0a-CD, 2.0b, 2.0c, 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c
• Microsoft Word for Windows 95, version 7.0

Use the following steps to perform a DDE link of an Excel chart in Microsoft Word for Windows

1. From the Chart menu in Excel, choose Select Chart.

2. From the Edit menu, choose Copy.

3. Switch to Word for Windows by pressing ALT+TAB.

4. Position the insertion point where you want to place the chart.

Word for Windows Versions 7.0, 6.0, 2.0

1. From the Edit menu, choose Paste Special.

2. In the Data Type list, select the desired format, then choose the Paste Link button.

Word for Windows Version 1.x

1. From the Edit menu, choose Paste Link.

2. In the Paste Link dialog box, select the Auto Update option if you want Word to automatically update the chart whenever it is changed in Excel. If Auto Update is not selected, it is necessary to select the chart and recalculate it (by pressing F9) for new charts to appear.

After you place the chart in the Word document, you can scale or crop it.
