The information in this article applies to:
SUMMARYWhen adding text and making changes in a Microsoft Word for the Macintosh document, the document's size (in terms of disk space) gradually increases then suddenly decreases, even though information is not lost from the document. These changes in file size are a result of the Fast Save feature.
MORE INFORMATIONTo disable the Fast Save feature, do the following:
Word version 6.0
Word version 5.0
Word version 4.0
For example, imagine while editing a 150K document, the document slowly increases in size. At one point it reaches 180K. After another Save, Fast Save forces a full Save, which causes the document to shrink to 140K.
