The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.1a, 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0a-CD, 2.0b, 2.0c, 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c

SUMMARY

Word for Windows expects a certain aspect ratio for fonts. If the font does not meet this specification, Word will not see it.

MORE INFORMATION

Windows Write does not look at aspect ratios. Because Word for Windows is a much more sophisticated application than Write, it sets a criteria to maintain performance and keep size down. Some versions of Adobe's screen fonts will not appear in Word for Windows because of their font metrics.
