SUMMARYMicrosoft Word for Windows password-protected files can be deleted with the Find File command, the Windows File Manager, and the DOS prompt.
MORE INFORMATIONBy choosing Find from the File menu to delete a password-protected file, you will be prompted to enter the password; however, you can choose Cancel and then delete the file. Word for Windows provides password protection as a method of preventing unauthorized access to a document. The ability to protect a document from deletion is beyond the Word for Windows application and is an operating system function.
