The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.1a, 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0a-CD, 2.0b, 2.0c, 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c

SUMMARY

When copying annotation text from the annotation pane and pasting it into the body of a document in Microsoft Word for Windows, the author's initials and the annotation number are lost; however, the annotation text remains intact. The Clipboard displays the content of the text to be pasted as follows:

   [0] annotation text.

Copying and pasting from the main document rather than the annotation pane preserves the annotation reference as displayed.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. From the Insert menu, choose Annotations.

  2. Type the annotation text.

  3. Select the annotation, including the reference.

  4. From the Edit menu, choose Copy.

  5. Position the insertion point in the body text of the document. From the Edit menu, choose Paste. Word returns the text "[0] annotation text" instead of the following:

          [Initials#] annotation text.
