The vertical scroll bar in Microsoft Word for Windows indicates your approximate location in the current document. The scroll bar position is not relative to the the document's page numbers; instead, it is relative to the total number of possible cursor positions in the document. For example, if the insertion point is on page 35 of a 70-page document, the vertical scroll bar position is not necessarily in the middle of the scroll bar; its position is relative to the position of the insertion point in the document, based on document size.
