WinWord: Cannot Box Paragraphs That Have Different IndentsLast reviewed: February 6, 1998Article ID: Q80094 |
The information in this article applies to:
SUMMARYIn Microsoft Word for Windows, you cannot have two or more paragraphs sharing a box border if the paragraphs have different values for their left or right indents.
MORE INFORMATIONIf two or more paragraphs contain different values for indentation from left or right, Word for Windows draws a separate box around each paragraph. This behavior is by design; the border relies on the indentation measurements to determine its size. If you set two different indentation measurements, you cannot set a single border for both settings.
WORKAROUNDYou can simulate a single border around two or more paragraphs with different indents by placing the paragraphs inside the cell of a table, then placing a border around the table cell.
