SUMMARY

In Microsoft Word for Windows version 2.0, the United States English main dictionary, which is used by the spelling checker, contains 104,000 words. The United States English thesaurus contains 24,000 key words and 200,000 synonyms.

In Word version 6.0, the Main dictionary contains 106,000 words. The Thesaurus has 44,000 key words and 458,000 synonyms.
