FILLIN Fields with Embedded DATE Field as Default Text

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0a-CD, 2.0b, 2.0c, 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c

SUMMARY

If you use a FILLIN field with the \d default switch and an embedded DATE or TIME field in Microsoft Word for Windows version 2.0, when you print the document, Word informs you that the document is printing. Then, it updates any FILLIN fields that contain \d and a DATE or TIME field. Listed below is an example:

   {fillin "date mail" \d "{date}"}

This problem occurs even if you clear the Update Fields option by choosing Options from the Tools menu, selecting the Print category, and clearing the check box.

STATUS

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available. This procedure works correctly in Word for Windows version 1.x.
