Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. From the File menu, choose New, and choose the OK button to open a new document based on NORMAL.DOT.

  2. From the View menu in version 2.0, choose Normal. In version 1.x, verify that Draft, Outline, and Page are NOT chosen.

  3. From the View menu in version 2.0, choose Header/Footer. From the Edit menu in version 1.x, choose Header/Footer. Select Header, and choose the OK button.

  4. Type "This is a test" (without the quotation marks) in the header pane.

  5. From the Insert Menu, choose Field.

  6. From the Insert Field Type box, select Auto No.

  7. If field codes are not active, Word displays the message "Main Document Only."
